Jenifer Sparks Schaffner, MSW, LISW

Clinical Therapist

Throughout my career as a therapist, I have had the privilege to work with a diverse group of clients with a wide variety of concerns from PTSD to relationship issues.

I value compassion. I provide a non-judgmental, safe environment with active and honest communication. I primarily utilize Cognitive Therapy, which is an empirically-validated treatment for many problems. I also use EMDR and psychodynamic approaches, depending on a client’s symptoms and needs.

I have a passion for helping people identify their goals and achieve them. I work with both children and adults to help them make positive changes, feel better, and move forward.

I earned my masters in Social Work in New York City at the Hunter College School of Social Work. I am independently licensed by the CWMFT Board of Ohio.
Carol McClure, MA, LPCC

Clinical Therapist

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor licensed by the State of Ohio Counseling, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapy Board.  I have eighteen years’ experience, and one of my training highlights was the opportunity to work extensively with Dr. Philip Ney, a world-renowned expert on the psychological and emotional needs of adults who have experienced childhood abuse or undergone an abortion.  Therefore, the focus of my professional practice is helping individuals to overcome neglect and abuse of all types, including sexual, emotional, verbal, and physical abuse, which encompasses anxiety and depression.  I have experience in premarital and marital counseling for women and men, assisting couples with communication about issues that affect us all: finances, intimacy, sex, cohabitation and more.  I have additional experience working with international adoptees and their family around attachment and abandonment issues, as well as working with GBLTQ individuals and their families.  I primarily employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy modalities to assist clients in becoming more self-aware, acquire new patterns of behavior, grow in confidence, and gain momentum in living their life to the fullest.

Family is an important cornerstone of my life.  My husband and I are celebrating 37 years of marriage.  We have four children, two beautiful grandchildren, and a lovable standard poodle named Star.  Together, we enjoy backpacking, kayaking, golf, and spending time with family and friends.

I am an Independently Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with 16 years of experience providing counseling to children, adolescents, adults and families. I specialize in working with issues such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, parenting concerns, relationship/marital concerns, issues related to adoption, and a variety of other issues. While my training has primarily been in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I tend to work with each client individually to determine what the best course of action will be to address the issue they present with. It is very important to me to provide a warm, empathic, non-judgement space for people to come share their concerns with. I earned my BA in Sociology from Bowling Green State University in 1996 and my Masters Degree in Community Counseling from Kent State University in 2001. I have had the fortune of working in residential settings, office-based settings and community-based settings.
