As a seasoned professional, I bring a broad spectrum of corporate, military, and life experience to my counseling approach. I work with adults and couples of all ethnicities, orientations, and backgrounds and have insight and sensitivity into the unique experience and needs of African Americans, individuals who are biracial or of mixed-race, and people of color.
When it comes to trauma, I believe we’ve all had trauma of some sort. Trauma can negatively impact our lives in various ways showing up as PTSD, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, co-dependency, and other relationship problems. As a trauma informed, integrative clinical therapist, I don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. I prefer using therapies and interventions that are appropriate for the individual’s or couple’s needs and goals.
Some of the therapies and treatments I use include the following: Trauma Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Grief Recovery, EFT: Tapping and EMDR therapies.
I am a certified Yoga teacher and often integrate Complementary Alternative Modalities (CAM) with therapy to help clients increase emotional wellness and encourage healing and recovery with Mindfulness Meditation, Yoga practices, and other Expressive Arts Therapy. I am also trained as a Life Coach and bring a Solution-Focused mentality to help clients solve minor issues quickly and effectively.
I work with couples using Gottman Relationship Therapy to resolve conflicts, strengthen intimacy, and to deal with life’s challenges and transitions like parenting, divorce, separation, affairs, and elderly parents. I also help individual clients work through relationship issues, create healthy relationships, recognize red flags in relationships, and come to terms with the end of a relationship.
If you are curious to know if I can help you, ask yourself the following questions: Have you experienced childhood trauma or trauma as an adult? Have you been the victim of domestic violence? Are you dealing with a narcissistic parent or spouse? Are you suffering from the impact of losing a mother or father? Are you struggling with grieving the loss of a loved one? Do you struggle with managing painful and intense emotions or anger? Have you experienced church hurt? Are you confused about your religious beliefs? Are you dealing with a chronic illness and need resources and support?
Whatever your problem or challenge, it would be my pleasure to work alongside you on this part of your journey.
