Jennifer D. Martin, MA, LPCC

Clinical Therapist

I have over 10 years of experience providing a safe and secure place for individuals, families, and couples to address emotional and psychological problems that often result in personal suffering and struggling relationships. I place great emphasis on empathy and believe that we all encounter deep dark places that are best worked through when we have a safe and compassionate person to walk alongside us through the journey. I am passionate about helping others find a way forward to experiencing fulfilling relationships and a hopeful joyful life.

I specialize in working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, and relationships issues. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy and Existential Therapy modalities to assist individuals in improving insight, gaining coping skills and building empowerment and self-esteem.

I am experienced in working with diverse populations, having worked outside of the United States with people of many different socioeconomic statuses, cultures, intellectual and developmental stages, age groups, sexual orientations, and genders.

I have a firm believer in autonomy, and helping people to find their ability to empower themselves. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years.  My experience is vast, having worked with children, adolescents, families, adults, and those battling addiction. I like to focus my clients on their ability to think, discover, and empower themselves, in a safe place and with support. My focus is motivational and I have an extensive history of working with trauma; sexual trauma specifically; attachment; personality disorders; anxiety; depression; self-harming behaviors, and suicidal ideation.

It is very important to me personally that people feel safe and comfortable, so that they are free to explore and empower themselves. To do this in practice, I utilize the modalities of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior-Therapy, Motivational Interviewing; and psychodynamic, mindfulness, and feminist perspectives to assist clients in flourishing and living the best lives they can. They cross my threshold and enter a nonjudgmental environment to best explore any personal, relational, parenting, or other concern.

Together, we work collaboratively on what will work for you.
